Giving Gifts & Company

 

Giving Gifts is opening a STORE! Not a online store, not a showroom, not a Pop-Up Shop, but a real brick and mortar store! I know this blog post is very similar to one that I wrote a couple of months ago, but the difference this time is that the store is truly mine! I signed the lease, I chose all the vendors/artists and I created the concept for the space and it is long term! Another huge difference is that I am putting a ton of money into turning the ugliest building on Main St. into a pretty awesome retail space. The formally ugly brick and graffiti-ed building is getting a a fresh coat of cream and grey paint. And the crazy multi-coloured paint job inside - if you didn't see it, you truly missed out - of red, green, blue and orange/yellow is all becoming cream and grey. It is going to be a breath of fresh air and exactly what the space needs. My fingers are crossed that it is going to be ready in time. We are on a very tight deadline but there is no choice, opening day is on Saturday!

Giving Gifts & Company (website to come soon) is a new concept in retail spaces. I am calling it a Main St Cooperative Shop as that is exactly what it is. A whole bunch of different artist and vendors with small stores of their own are getting together to share the lease and the staffing time in the store to create one amazing store together. Aristotle said "The whole is greater than the sum of its parts" - we'll it's true! I'd love Giving Gifts & Company to become the best place in Vancouver to shop for gifts - gifts for others, but also gifts for yourself. I'm a big believer in the fact that everyone needs to be spoiled with gifts and Giving Gifts & Company truly has something for everyone.
