Artist Profile - Parisa of Standout Boutique

Where did the name of your business come from?
The name Standout Boutique came from an idea of wearing something unique that makes you stand out.

What is the story behind why you started your business?
I’ve been making jewelry for myself as a hobby for a long time. My day job is working in high tech for the past 15 years, selling enterprise software. It's challenging and rewarding, but you never get a chance to get feedback right away from your clients for what you do. I wanted to do something with my hands and see the results right away, not waiting for a long sales cycle. That’s why 5 years ago I decided to turn my jewelry making hobby into a business. It’s been an amazing journey creating something from scratch, learning new things, staying positive and meeting incredible people.

What is the dream that you wish to fund through your business?
The dream is to offer affordable jewelry pieces everywhere in BC and Canada that are unique as well as profitable for local shops.

What are you most proud of about your business?
I am most proud of all the relationships that I made and all the collaborations with the charities, bloggers, influencers and models in the Lower Mainland and other cities in BC.

How have your grown as a person as a result of your business?
I have a better appreciation for everything specially if it’s handmade. I look at everything with a different perspective. If you are passionate enough to do something, you can do it and excel at it. Starting a business has lot of challenges which makes you stronger. You need to look at the challenges or obstacles as opportunities for you to grow and learn.

What difference does your art make in your life, and your family’s life?
It me brings so much calmness and enjoyment when I use my hands to make a unique piece. My son has been involved from an early age, playing with my beads and watching me cut wires and make new pieces. Running my own business stimulates my mind and helps me keep moving and looking forward to enjoying the little things in life.

If you could say one thing to the person that buys and/or enjoys your art, what would it be?
Enjoy uniqueness!
