Gift List: Teacher's Gifts - Our Top 10 Picks!

My annual pick for teacher's gifts is always the most popular gift list of the year. If you're like me, you wake at up some point (likely June 20th) and realize that the school year is almost over and you need to get the teacher a gift! If you're on top of it, you've already done your research and know that your child's teacher loves red, always wears scarves and drinks tea all day. Come into the store with that info and we'll help you find the perfect gift! On the other hand, if you're like most of us, you'll know nothing about the person who has spent 1000+ hours with your child this year. You're lucky if you know his/her first name! While I'm writing this I'm searching for my sons teacher's name. Sorry Mr Wilms! I will figure it out before the end of the year, promise!

Here are our top picks for teacher's gifts this year. They all make perfect gifts regardless of how much, or how little, you know about the teacher.

1. TEACHER Giving Crate - $80 and up, Usually given as a class gift

Our top pick is always a TEACHER Giving Crate! There were 50 lucky teachers that received one last June, and this year we're hoping to gift them to 100 teachers! Giving Crates are the easiest way to present a WOW gift. They are usually given on behalf of the whole class, with each family contributing the amount that works for them. All we need to know is the name of the teacher (first name is optional!) and we'll take care of the rest. We'll set-up a link that you can send out to the class allowing each family to contribute what works for them; $10, $15, $20, or more. Each Giving Crate is beautifully unique and expertly curated, so we'll put together a gift that you'll love to give! Email Lisa at to find out more.

2. Batch Sweet & Salty Pretzels or Pecan Salted Caramel Popcorn - $9 or $6

Handmade in small batches, Salted Caramel Popcorn or Sweet & Spiced Pretzels are truly a delicious treat. They come in a generous-sized bag perfect for sharing, or not!

3. Fresh floral Arrangement, Succulent Plants or Mini Terrariums - $12 to $14

I received a succulent plant as a teacher's gift this year and love it! It was the perfect thing to bring a smile to my face and remind me of the freshness of summer. There is always a variety of succulents for $12 or $14 at the store. This year, we are also thrilled to offer pretty floral arrangements for only $14. Please order ahead of time by emailing Lisa at and specify which day you'd like to pick-up. There is nothing cuter than a child presenting a flower arrangement or plant to his/her teacher!

4. Honey + Wildflower Soap - $12

Any beautiful handmade soap makes the perfect teacher's gift, but we chose to feature this Honey + Wildflower soap by Cobble Hill Soap Company for the fun honeycomb surprise on the bottom and the fact that it perfectly encapsulates a sweet summer full of wildflowers and honey!

5. Organic Looseleaf Tea - $10

With 3 kids in school, I've given almost every gift I can think of to the teachers and one of my favourite is organic looseleaf tea. This tea by Karla's Specialities is some of the best we've ever tried! Midnight Mint and Vanilla Honeybush are our go-to as they are herbal and everyone will love them, but there are lots of other flavours in the store if you are more adventurous.

6. Sealuxe Fig and Almond Candle - $16

The Fig & Almond Candle is our favourite candle scent in the store, but all Sealuxe candles smell completely lovely. These soy wax candles burn perfectly with their scent all the way through. Give a teacher the gift of relaxing summer evenings with a beautifully scented candle.

7. Time Out Uplifting Essential Oil Spray - $9

Give the teacher a time out! He or she will thank you for it with this uplifting organic essential oil spray. It can be used as a hydrating facial toner, body spray, or room spray and is great for kids too.

Ingredients: Purified water, witch hazel, coconut oil, patchouli, orange, bergamot, almond and other pure, organic essential oils.

8. Teach, Love, Inspire Necklace - $65

A meaningful necklace is a beautiful way to show a special teacher how much of a difference she has made in your life. This one is handmade by Tracey Tomtene in Vancouver, Canada

9.  Thank You Chocolate Cone - $17

These chocolates are delicious! Each cone is filled with 10 large pieces of the best quality chocolate - half Sea Salt Caramel and half Dark Chocolate Truffle. They are fun to unwrap and enjoy, and the perfect way to say thanks for a great year!

10. Cloud Nine Organic Cotton Candy - $6

Cotton candy is the sweetest way to say thanks for a great year! And this cotton candy is organic and comes in the best flavours! We'll put it in a gift bag with tissue and for $6 you'll have the perfect gift!

We hope this list makes for easy gift giving. Even if you are last minute, we'll have the perfect gift at Giving Gifts & Company. With 5 rooms and over 60 local artists in the store, you are sure to find something every teacher will love!

 Thanks for Giving Gifts! Lisa
