Our Giving Gifts team member Tania gave Nelson Naturals' Crush & Brush Toothpaste Tablets a try during a trip to Galiano Island, BC. Read on to see what she thought!
I find one of the more awkward toiletries to bring traveling and camping is toothpaste, especially if you're flying and need to look for a mini tube that hardly lasts a few days. This is where Nelson Naturals' steps in to save the day (and the environment!) Packaged in a reusable glass jar, available in two flavours, each tablet is perfectly portioned and easy to use. I wasn't camping this time, but figured my trip to our family cabin would be a good time to try them out before going on a bigger trip.
Light and Portable
What I noticed right away is how light weight they are - which makes them great for backpacking trips too! The jar, when closed properly, keeps humidity out and ensures the tablets stay crunchy.
Cool tip: you can use these without water or a toothbrush if you really need to! Since they are natural and without fluoride, they are safe to swallow after brushing. So far I haven't had to try that but I can think of a couple of times when I was on long haul bus rides where I wish I could have!
Minty Fresh
The flavour and texture took some getting used to, as it's not the usual creamy paste and strong mint flavour I am accustomed to. The natural mint definitely freshens your mouth, while the light abrasiveness of the tablet pieces make sure to clean off any residue on your teeth.
The Verdict
While I'm not sure I would want to use these all the time, I definitely recommend them as a great travel or on-the-go option, especially since you can use them without water in a pinch!
Nelson Naturals also makes natural toothpaste to satisfy the need for a paste texture. We carry it in several flavours.
