Today is the last day in 2011. It also marks the end of the first complete calendar year for Giving Gifts. Giving Gifts had many successes this past year, but the one I am most proud of, is the amount we have given to charity. Giving Gifts is a very small business started on the premise that we can all make a difference in the world. "Buy the change you want to see in the world" was the line that guided my vision for Giving Gifts. That one line impacts everything I carry at Giving Gifts. All products are eco friendly and/or fairly made (usually both) and they are all made by great companies that go beyond just creating awesome products, but also give back to the world. There is an amazing story behind all the products at Giving Gifts (they are stories that I love to share when given the chance). Giving Gifts is also part of that story, with over $1200 in donations and in-kind donations made in 2011! Those donations are all thanks to you and your support of Giving Gifts over the year!
In 2011, Giving Gifts donated to many great causes.
- $300 to Carli's Kids to help build the new Abetavu Village in Uganda. Carli is currently fundraising in Vancouver and she and her husband have raised over $60,000 to get the construction started on the village to house 100 children.
- $330 to Free the Children to help build a school for Kids in Kenya.
- $220 to the Making Magic Fund to help an inner-city school in Vancouver through the Vancouver Sun Adopt-a-School Program.
Over $400 in gift certificates and product donations to help fundraiser for many worthwhile charitable causes.
I am really looking forward to seeing Giving Gifts grow and continue to give in 2012. I am looking into starting a charity project on behalf of Giving Gifts and will share the details when the project is confirmed. Please continue to "buy the change you want to see in the world" and shop at Giving Gifts knowing that you are getting quality gifts for babies, kids, adults and pets that are eco friendly and fairly made and made by companies making a difference in the world. Year round, Giving Gifts donates 10% of sales to charity. My goal for 2012 is to donate $2000 to charity from Giving Gifts, and with your help, we'll get there. Thanks for Giving Gifts that Give!
