What inspired the name of your business?
My belief that the most influential and beneficial play for young children comes from the freedom to explore the world around around them.
What is the story behind why you started your business?
In my classroom I looked for every opportunity to bring the "outside world in". My infatuation with rocks was a great place to start. Children love to explore the world of rocks.
What is the dream that you wish to fund through your business?
My beach front dream home is waiting for me.
What are you most proud of about your business?
It's simplicity. Children and adults alike love rocks. Using them as a learning tool is an engaging extension. The play is open-ended and limitless. Adults can play along too!
How have you grown as a person as a result of your business?
Opening up and sharing my passion with others is very satisfying. With fellow educators I have taken on a mentoring role. Working and connecting with others is empowering. I never stop learning and growing.
What difference does your art make in your life, and your family’s life?
Art and creating are my life. It makes me happy. When you're happy the people around you are happy too!
If you could say one thing to the person that buys and/or enjoys your art, what would it be?
Have fun with it. Look beyond the obvious for ways to enjoy it. Share it with someone.
Why do you love being a part of Giving Gifts?
It is inspiring to be surrounded by the energy and talent of creative people.
Why we love having Sticks & Stones at Giving Gifts:
If you've visited the store, chances are you have probably seen cute little messages made of Jane's painted stones. We love scattering her heart rocks around our display shelves too, just to give you a little love message! They make great additions to our Giving Crates too - add a number for a special birthday, a name, a heart stone, or spell out a thoughtful word. You can find full sets and individual stones in the store, or grab a full set online.
