Artist Story: Yulee of Hunter & Trove

Where did the name of your business come from?

The name Hunter & Trove signifies the journey of finding and hunting for the simple and beautiful things in life that bring joy. It represents embracing and creating a treasure trove in our life filled with these beautiful things. Love, family, beautiful moments, gifts given, and gifts received -- whatever enriches a person's life.

What is the story behind why you started your business?

I have always been a maker, a creative, and a lover of entrepreneurship. I started my first business as a university student designing graphic T-shirts for local boutiques. I began jewelry design in 2009, and love creating pieces others can love, and items that hold meaning for the wearer.

What is the dream that you wish to fund through your business?

I hope to show my kids the beauty of creation, innovation, learning, challenging yourself, being brave and staying true to the things you love.

How have you grown as a person as a result of your business?

I feel truly myself when I focus on things I am passionate about and fill my time with them. Running a business provides endless opportunity for growth as every turn offers something new to learn about.

What are you most proud of about your business? 

I feel proud when my little gems find homes with the most lovely people in Vancouver, across Canada, and abroad.

What difference does your art make in your life, and your family's life?

It provides an avenue to explore and express myself creatively. I hope to show the joy of art and creation to people around me.

If you could say one thing to the person that buys and/or enjoys your art, what would it be?

"I hope my work becomes a part of the treasure trove of your own life!"
